Northeast Adventure – September 25-28, 2023
There are few places with stronger ties to early automobile racing than historic Watkins Glen, NY. And that's a big part of why we considered this a "must experience" location for one of our Adventures. They raced in the streets through downtown of the tiny hamlet of Watkins Glen way back in the day (1948!) and that original course is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Today they race at a dedicated road course affectionally called "The Glen" but officially known as Watkins Glen International. Some of the biggest names in Indy Car, NASCAR and even some F1 drivers have raced here. And we will be dropping in there for parade laps too!
But that's not the only draw to this region. The gorgeous Finger Lakes region of New York is full of natural beauty and stunning vistas. The lakes were formed by ancient glaciers which carved out the U-shaped valleys tens of thousands of years ago, and then retreated leaving behind the depressions which filled with water and are now a joy to the eye and home to wildlife. The Gorge Trail is one of the most breathtaking scenes of all and worth all 1.5 miles and 832 stone steps (pro tip: walk *down* the trail!).
